Living Room

Maximize your natural light

Before we go on to artificial ways of lighting, we want to emphasize on mother nature’s ignition. Make sure to keep your windows clean for a decent daylight during the day. Daylight or sunlight reflects the healthiest form of light both for your home interior and your well-being. It is a cheap and an easy way to uplift the ambiance in the room so why neglect it?

Surprise! Unanticipated lighting in sight

Think of your home as a scene of entertainment for your guests and loved ones. Who wouldn’t want to excite their observers or family members with unexpected details and pop ups around the house? This will impress them and increase their respect for your sense of styling skills. Lighting should not be just about overhead fixtures or portable lamps. Personalize your space with eccentric lighting that is rare. One example can be gathering attention to your bookshelf with mini lights, highlighting your frames or artwork. Another unique lighting could be hanging pendant lights in your bedroom.

How high is your ceiling?

If you are a lover of hanging light fixtures, calculating your ceiling’s height is a must. If the chosen light accessory has an adjustable cable or rod system, then you can freely pick without having to consider your ceiling, however, some items are standard. In this case, the bottom of a light should hang about 12-20 inches below a standard 8-foot ceiling. For each additional foot of ceiling height, 3 inches should be added.

When hanging your light over a table or a kitchen island…

In this case, 28 to 34 inches is the distance range that should be obtained from the bottom of the light to the surface of your table. Do consider the sizing of your lighting as it will be an effective factor if you are willing to hang it over your kitchen or living room table. A small sized light can be placed lower however, a bigger lighting item can be placed higher.

Kitchen

A good lighting is a necessity everywhere, but it is mostly needed in your kitchen where all the chopping and the searing take place. You should be able to clearly see in your kitchen with a qualified lighting. Here are few touches you can make to increase the light in your kitchen:

  • Illuminate your countertops with some under-cabinet lighting. They can be turned on and off whenever you desire.

  • Usually, people tend to ignore areas where shelves or cupboards are. Light those areas to make them more useful and pleasant on the eye.

  • As mentioned in the previous paragraphs, consider pendant lighting in your kitchen. Over your counter or the table which you eat your meals at. This will add a touch of luxury while giving you an extra gleam.
