Top Interior Design Trends 2021

2020 has been a year filled with a deep longing for health, mental stability, and an escape from non-ending anxiety about the future. Maybe the only year filled with so many unpleasant memories and incidents, that everyone equally wants it gone out the door.

With this year spent in our homes, we learned the real worth of our spaces and therefore gained a fresh perspective on the way we feel about home design. We recently published the post, ‘’Carry your 2021 resolutions to your home décor’’ which was about ways on how you can welcome 2021 through refreshing and motivating changes in your home. What about how 2021 has welcomed you? What leads or will lead 2021’s interior design styles? What are the key features of a modern home design this year?
Read here a brief piece we prepared, that has some fruitful answers for you.

Emphasis on office space.

Before everything went downhill in 2020, most people used kitchen countertops or an opening in any room to sort out work related tasks on their laptops or computers. Now with working from home being perpetual, people started seeking out long-lasting solutions regarding their work environment at home. Prioritizing tranquility and composure, work environment at home is suggested to be separated from the rest of the house. It should detach family time from work hours. The space should be resourceful and interesting so that you can be motivated to get into that busy bee mood. Window treatments in the room should be well managed with adjustable blinds so that too much sun can be blocked during reading or typing on your laptop. Soothing and cool colors like blue tones are recommended for a workspace. If your area is a cramped one with limited functionality, portable office kits can be considered. These types of furnishing can be stowed away easily whenever you desire to get it out of sight.

Cheap and temporary OUT, sustainability, and high-quality IN!

2020 has been an eye-opening year for most and caring about things that seemed irrelevant before is certainly on the rise now. We are now interested in knowing the materials used or wasted during production. We want to know the story of the elements that make our lives easier. Environment friendly furnishing which is high in quality and sustainable is one of the things that are preferred rather than big box store furnishing. Sustainability is no longer a trend but a requirement instead. The more we spend time inside, the more we value our personal space and thus, opt for items that will accompany us for a long period of time.

Black kitchens.

Everything is evolving and longtime endured white kitchens are too! Classic white is replaced with the noble black. Kitchen counters or cabinets are turned to black for a more dignified and luxurious look. Black allows the space to stand out while individualizing every area within its own character and statement.

Say no to terrazzo.

For a long period of time, terrazzo tiles in bathroom or kitchens were known to transform the space to unique and fun scenes. Even though we will not deny the concept’s joyous and playful mark, this trend is ready to fly out of your window. Terrazzo was an old habit and now the habit has died!

Squiggles and wiggles.

The beauty of undulating details is that they help enhance human connection and creativeness... Use of organic and laid-back strokes are effective factors on our overall spirit and your home’s aura. After chevron’s time of fame in 2010, looser and curvier squiggle came under the spotlight. This wavy look is all over the place, on rugs, mirrors or even tabletop objects. Let your imagination take the wheel and be brave in your wiggly choices.

Nostalgia.

May be the last tip on our post, however the key component of 2021 home design trends, is the use of nostalgic themes and set ups in home interiors. Old time styles like Art Décor or Victorian era are exquisitely coming back into the picture. Traditional is the new modern and people have grown a high tendency to what is time-honored and comfortable rather than sharp and current. As ornamental floral details, rich velvets or lace collars are back in fashion, vintage details, rustic, and traditional accessories or primitive designs are certainly back in our homes.
